Honest feedback on the Nomad

2006-12-10

I’ve been paddling the Nomad 8.5 for about 3-4 years now. I love it and haven’t found any boat I have liked more. I weigh about 195, and most the paddling I do is in Cali. I think that some boats might turn quicker, or be a little faster, but in terms of one boat with the entire package I would say go with a Nomad. It paddles with extra weight like a champ, and carries momentum through holes or off boofs great. There have been many times I was sure I was going to get locked down in hole where the nomad sliced through it. I think in creeking A big attribute in a boat which isn’t talked about that much is it’s balance both side to side and front to back when partially/fully submerged. Nothing is worse then going off a drop and while under water feel the tail catch, or the boat rise in a way that causes you to flip. I think that’s what I enjoy about the Nomad the most is it’s balance rising up, always coming up in position to put-in the next stroke. In all fairness I haven’t paddled the Habi yet, but have also heard some good things about it. good luck with it. charlie center
