Welcome Teva Mountain Game Viewers!

2007-07-20

Welcome Teva Mountain Games viewers! With the recent airing of the TMGs on national television, we have been excited to see the millions of viewers visit our site. You may have seen our short commercial clip directing you to this site and decided to find out more about how you and your family can enjoy paddle sports. Well we are glad you did and stopped by Dagger.com.

Although the Mountain Games was focused on whitewater kayaking with the Dagger Steep Creek Championships and the freestyle action it is important to know that there is a huge variety of paddle styles, one of which is perfect for you and your area. Kayaking is fun for everyone and we make all the boats needed to get you out on the water.

To begin with Dagger offers Recreational kayaks. These boats are designed with stability and comfort in mind and are a great platform to discover paddle sports in a mild manner. Constructed of super polyethylene, these plastic kayaks are lightweight and can be used in a variety of locations. In lakes, ponds, inlets and mild moving water these kayaks are the perfect introduction to your new found paddling lifestyle. And while many people may feel claustrophobic in smaller kayaks, these boats feature large cockpits (the area you sit in) as well as offer easy maneuverability. In short they are small, stable, lightweight, easy to control and will have you paddling like a pro in no time. They are great for young and old and will take away any intimidation you may have and get you excited about paddling. People often use them for recreation, fishing, exercise and to just get out on the water.

Also offered from Dagger are Touring kayaks. These boats are a step up from the recreational kayaks in several ways. They are longer and faster, offer rudders (to help you steer), have large bulkheads for storing gear (so do some rec. boats) and enable paddlers to cover long distances very quickly. They are slightly less stable then a rec. boat but not so much that a beginner could not make the step right into one. They are often used in large bodies of water like the ocean or inlets as they do cover so much distance in such a quick manner. They also weigh slightly more then the smaller rec. boats but can still be easily loaded onto a car or trailer. Another thing to consider with the larger boat with more options is that it will be slightly more expensive. A quick description for a touring boat is that it is fast kayak with fair stability that will allow you to haul you and a ton of gear over long distances. They make for a FANTASTIC work out and allow paddlers to pack up and get away from it all. Almost like a kayak version of a backpack that allows you to escape the day to day doldrums. They can be used for day trips or over night excursions and will be a welcome addition to the family for years to come.

And this brings us to the final kayak style, Whitewater kayaks. Within this category there are freestyle kayaks which allow paddlers to surf, spin and do a variety of tricks on river features as well as in the ocean on waves. Then there are creek boats which are the type of kayaking showcased in the Teva Mountain Games. Creek boats are designed to go down steep creeks and tight technical rivers that flow from the mountains. And lastly there are river runners. These are boats that offer large volume and are a very forgiving mode of river transportation. Regardless of what type of whitewater kayak you are looking for, Dagger makes them.

But how do you get into the sport the right way? Easy. Go to the dealer locator here at Dagger.com and enter your information to find your nearest Dagger Kayak retailer. These outdoor shops offer our entire line up of Dagger products as well as information on instruction. Paddling is for everyone and these stores can easily guide you into the right boat as well answering any questions you may have about paddle sports.
