Andrew Holcombe Takes First At Green River Narrows 09

Nov 10, 2009

Hot on the heels of his win at the Lord of the Fork race, Andrew Holcombe pulled another first place finish at the legendary Green River Narrows race this past weekend.

Andrew won the overall “Ironman” title, by throwing down the fastest runs in both the longboat and short boat kayak divisions. He paddled the Dagger Green Boat and the Dagger Nomad 8.5, respectively. Andrew is closing out the 2009 season with authority, yet never loses his humility and pure enthusiasm for paddling.

“All around, it was the best Green Race ever!” Andrew summarized, characteristically succinct and gracious.

Dagger also congratulates fellow Dagger athletes: Chris Gragtmans (fourth in longboat K1, fourth in short boat K1) and Corey Volt (14th in longboat K1). Bryan Kirk (19th in longboat K1) and Jakub Nemec (32nd in longboat K1, sixth in short boat K1) represented for our sister brand, Wave Sport. Dagger gives a special shout to Dagger lead designer, Mark “Snowy” Robertson who competed in his first ever Green River Narrows Race. You each make us proud.

The Green River Narrows Race is a classic downriver creek race, still bringing out over 500 spectators and a friendly crowd of racers in its 13th year. It has maintained a sense of fun and community for all who attend to compete or to watch. This river and this race formed the inspiration for the Dagger Green Boat. Now, one year after being made available to the public, the Green Boat was the boat of choice for nearly 50-percent of the longboat competitors.
