Holcombe and the Green Boat Dominate the Lord of the Fork

Oct 27, 2009

Andrew Holcombe took first place in the Lord of the Fork race on the Russell Fork River this past weekend, and he did it in record time. Paddling the Dagger Green Boat, Holcombe bested the field of 49 competitors. Holcombe was one of 21 competitors to choose the Green Boat for this iconic race.

For years, the fastest boat on the river has been the downriver specialty machine, the Perception Wavehopper. With a time of 9:57, Holcombe, in the Green Boat, was the first paddler ever to come in under 10-minutes while not paddling a Wavehopper. A new chapter in downriver racing has been opened.

Holcombe is undeniably one of the strongest downriver and creek racers around. With this record, he’s further solidified that reputation and has subsequently proven the versatility of the Dagger Green Boat. The 11-foot, 9-inch kayak was designed for speed, all while maintaining the agility, turning and boofing capabilities of a smaller creek boat. While most of us can only dream of a run as fast and as seamless as Holcombe is able to deliver, the Green Boat is proving that it is the tool to get us there.

Congratulations, Andrew! Good luck and safe paddling in the next race: the fourteenth Green River Narrows Race on November 7, 2009.
