Iker Beristain Van Dusen

DOB:
24/09/1988

State/Hometown: Mexico City

Favorite place to paddle/favorite drop:  Mexico is my favorite place to paddle because of all the unknown places there. I really don’t have a favorite drop. Each one has different moves and different dangers - it’s all about enjoying it.

About Me:  "I started paddling when I was 12 years old. My dad has always been a river guy and a kayaker. When I stated paddling I didn’t even know it was possible to run a waterfall.  It wasn’t until I met Rafa Ortiz at age 16 that I really got to see what kayaking was all about.  Running Agua Azul in Chiapas was my first time in a creek boat.  I decided to go big for the 50 footer, and needless to say, I was hooked.  From that day on I knew I wanted to be a waterfall rider."

Playboat:  Agent 6.0

Creekboat:  Nomad 8.1

Favorite Move: boof

Favorite Music: I like 60’s music as well as the newest music

Must-Have Accessory: sunglasses

Other Hobbies/Activities: pretty much everything that has to do with extreme sports (mostly board sports)

Professional Accomplishments: FD’s in Mexico, being one of the only Mexican pro kayakers, spreading kayaking throughout Mexico

Why Iker loves kayaking:  "For me kayaking is one of the most complete sports.  You have the physical and the mental challenge without the need for any mechanical power. It's just you and your boat on the most beautiful views you can find while interacting with nature.  Almost nothing gives you more satisfaction than running the big stuff."
